SIMPLE THINGS

I am sitting in my garden early in the morning before anyone else is awake, listening to nature. This is what my Gran would call "the simple things in life" .I value this time of tranquil , it allows my thoughts to be quiet and my brain to be still. I can hear the birds singing and the trees swaying. Bees buzz around me looking for pollen.

i cherish this time of the day, taking time out for me is something Ive learnt to do now. Its part of my day I dont feel guilty for doing it either I just enjoy the hour drinking my morning cuppa.I allow myself this time to just "BE" this is something we all need to do I think. This world we like in is full of computer screens, technology and general noise we forget how to just be and enjoy these simple things in life.

We take them for granted , thinking they will always be there, but I wonder will they? We as humans are selfish we abuse our planet and our environment so much. I know i cant change the world but i hope that I can live holistically and kindly, allowing mother earth to heal a bit even if its only my bit of mother earth. Where I tread  on her planet , the food I eat, the way I dispose of rubbish . All these things are affecting her.

I dont take for granted the birds singing or the trees swaying I want to enjoy their noise gentle and soft, its natures music. Her way of calming our emotions, her way of reminding us that simple things matter. 

SEEING THE RAVEN

Today as usual I went out for my cuppa in the garden and I saw a raven on a tree near my garden. I know it means many things to see a Raven, its associated with magic, and shapeshifting. There is a message from the universe as I have never seen a Raven so close up to my house or indeed to me. 

The seeing of a Raven means the death of something in Indian folk lore as well. This doesnt worry me as in fact a death of something usually means that there is a birth of something new.

Indeed it could even be that the Raven is my spirit animal at the moment alongside the Wolf who is always present around me. Anyway whatever the reason for the visit of the lone Raven I thank the universe for bringing her. I will accept whatever comes my way graciously and Thankfully.

NEW ME

I havent written any blogs for ages , life has changed alot. I no longer do my 9-5 corporate job because of ill health. I was retired a couple of years ago. I cant say I miss it. I miss my collegues and the laughs we enjoyed but i realised that I was so stressed out and it caused my M.S. to flare up almost constantly.
So I decided that I wouldnt ever put myself through that again and began to lead a holistic and spiritual life. Putting myself and my health first. I have changes my life style considerably.

So the next blogs will be all about the "New Me" the happy me , the balanced me , the me who chose to make the change in life!

Well I know it's been a while since I posted on here just because I've been away on my holidays. Also my puppy is keeping me busy so I've done very little stitching. But as you can see she's very cute and easily gets my attention ....

Up cycled necklace

Good morning everyone, I thought I'd upload a picture of my recent make. I made it from an old necklace which had broken.
It's made from a special thin net tube and I fed the beads into tube and made this for the summer.
I've already had a few compliments when I wore for the first time.
So if you have a necklace you like that's broken try to get this netting from a craft shop , there's lots of different colours.

Fantasy flowers

Hi everyone,
It's been a long time since I posted on here I've been so busy! I've been back to the day job after my bout Of ill health and I am struggling to fit everything into my life ! I'm stubborn though so am very determined to manage my lifestyle so I can do it all ! I went to a workshop recently ran by my freind Alex Waylett . She encouraged me to use different colours and showed me a few new things I can use. In my work. Here's the finished sample I did which has turned out really good , I did go off on my own tangent a bit though ...I'm such a bad student ! It's all ready for framing now. I am going to do more in this style I think as I do like the soft hazy look.

exhibition Of Islam &Buddism

Good morning everyone.
I've been so busy lately and am trying to make sure I still find time for stitch . We're having really good feedback about it and a lot of people are going to see it.
I did manage manage to do a video of the exhibition which I'll post so that you get an idea of what's there.
We have also had requests to take it elsewhere which is great.
It's called Parallel Pathways II and it's a comparison of Islam and Buddism through the art of textile art.its with my freind Sandy and we are known as Chalk & Cheese.

Gloves

Well hi everyone I just thought I'd share my recent make with you . I haven't made anything using crotchet ( except blankets) for ages. I saw this wool in my friends shop and I just had to have it as I love the colours. I am making a pair of fingerless gloves with this lovely wool. After not crocheting for a while I am finding it very therapeutic .

Tunic

well hello everyone I know it's been a while but it ve been busy making myself clothes.....I struggle sometimes with clothes because of my shape ..I am Apple shaped and sometimes things don't hang right so I decided to make somethings as I found a great new fabric shop just opened nearby.

I'm also making some longline waterfall cardigans so. I'll post one when I've done it.
This is my own pattern above and really easy to do. I wore it on the afternoon after I'd made it in the morning !

eXhibition is up

well  at last after two years of  preparation the exhibition is up ! iVe done a you tube video to give everyone an idea of how it looks. Such a hard day though I'm shattered now but it does look great.

Bird table

I made this recently from an old tea cup ad saucer. I thought it was a quirky idea to use up some old China.
The cup holds water as well ..and the birds love it.
I like to have things that are a bit different !

New website

I am in the process of doing a new web site which also has a blog with it. It's supposed to make life easier but it's costing me and I am struggling to get my head around the tech stuff.
So please be patient with me....

Wavy lines embroidered sample

Just completed this sample for my afternoon workshop next Saturday at Embroiderers guild.
It looks complex but it's not really as it just evolved as I embroidered, I'm liking the colour scheme and this sample is going on a book front to use as a note book.

Heidi my cavachon

I don't know if I've posted any recent photos of my bestie who is my cavachon puppy called Heidi she loves my work room(s)  . I think she likes the bits she can investigate into .

Mixed media heart

 Just finished this heart , I used spray paint on it as well as normal paint and some gilding wax.

This is the workshop I'm doing on Saturday at craft arena in Essex ,UK .

Fabric bowl

 I have had a very productive weekend and I have managed t complete the fabric bowl that I started on Saturday at the workshop I ran. It was a messy business but the outcome is great and unusual.
I'm back at the day job today so it's nice to get my creative fix ! Here's the photos of the bowl I am hoping to do more soon.

Mixed media powertex workshop

Good morning.
I spent a lovely day yesterday with the "in stitches" ladies at Harlow , Essex in UK .
We made some lovely wall art and some bowls as well.
I had some lovely feedback as well from them, it was great to see how they were all so different.Heres a lady working on her piece.

Simple evening bag

I made this simple bag for a workshop I am doing in March . I am quite pleased with the outcome as it was made up of trims that I had I'm my stash and it was a bit of a sample to try out the trims.
I think I will use it as it does hold a mobile phone, money and a lipstick with some keys. which is all a girl needs for a night out!

It's just a oblong piece of fabric with trims added ,then lined and then fold over in half.   Stitch up both sides. Then add the magnetic clasp and finish off the tops neatly. Then add a strap or chain for a handle. That's it done ! Hope you have fun if you try it.
